This book is not so much short stories as it is short writings on thoughts and questions of life, questions that we all have at one time or another. The Land has a profound impact on the author, reflected in his writings. You will chuckle, and you will, perhaps, be persuaded to question the realms of black and white. Read through these stories as he describes the haunting call of the loon and the whispering trees, interspersed with the actual letters he wrote to Revenue Canada while going through a long audit—letters that hit directly to the nerve centre that might ruffle “image”—and carry on through to a story of faith that may, perhaps, cause you to re-evaluate what it is that you might believe. Ingi’s
is a rambling journey, down a well-worn trail blazed by questions about
Christian faith that have troubled folks for centuries, questions all
too often raised by how we misrepresent God to others. Walking Ingi’s
trail, I was reminded of my own folly, a disturbing tendency to create
God in my own image, and to
forget the enabling of grace.-
